About Tag20 The sport
Hey there! Welcome to Tag20, the game that brings a whole new level of excitement to sport in the 21st century. Imagine all the best elements of rugby codes, but without the tackling.
That’s right, in Tag20 players can side step, kick and pass the ball without fear of being tackled.
So, how does it work? Well, the game is played with two teams of seven players on a field that measures 70 metres long by 50 metres wide.
Each player wears a pair of Tag20 shorts with two velcro patches attached, one on each hip. The objective is to score points by promoting the ball down the field and ultimately placing it in the opposition’s in-goal zone.

But here’s the twist – defenders stop the attackers by removing one or both tags from their shorts located on the hip region. Each team has five plays (or tags) to score points, and after the fifth tag has been removed, the ball is then handed over to the opposition who have their turn to score.
Scoring is achieved by placing the ball in the opposition’s in-goal area, also known as a try. A three-point try is awarded when the ball is placed correctly in the central zone of the in-goal area, and a two-point try is awarded when the ball is placed correctly in any other part of the in-goal area.
The game of Tag20 requires similar skills to other sports and rugby codes, with the major difference being the tag replaces the impact of a tackle. This creates a fun game that enhances your quality of life through fitness and sport. It’s a game that can be played by many and enjoyed by all, helping you to stay “GAME FIT FOR LIFE”.
